Immigration New Zealand policy requires that all documents not in English must be accompanied by an English translation. In the past we have not strictly enforced this policy. An external audit of our practices has resulted in a new quality assurance programme which has highlighted this issue. From August 1't, 2010 all Immigration New Zealand branches are required to strictly abide by our policy of requiring English translations of all documents submitted with visa applications.
Please note that agents who are providing immigration advice to students are not able to do translations on behalf of the students that they represent.
Agents who are only filling in and lodging forms are able to do translations because they do not have an interest in the outcome of the application.
Immigration New Zealand realizes that the agents will not be happy about this development. Please be apologized for the extra expense and trouble that being put through them. Unfortunately Immigration New Zealand is not able to put this off any longer. There is a policy review in progress and Immigration New Zealand is hoping the policy will change, but do not yet know what the conclusion will be.
